Best way to land a job
Maybe HopefullyHired isn't the best tool for you!
First of all, the motivation for hiring someone like you is to get problems solved.
Identify the problems, and position yourself as the solution. This approach is effective no matter how you choose to apply for a job.
You can apply for jobs in three ways, listed below in order. I strongly encourage you to try 1 and 2 before even considering 3.
1. Warm intro's - use your network
Trust is everything - People work with people.
If you've got an intro from a mutual connection, the person is 10 times more likely to hire you, before you even say a word.
If you can, use your network to get a foot in the door.
2. Cold email - Impress the decision-maker
Not everyone has a network they can rely on.
The next best option is to cold email the final decision-maker, whether it's the CEO or a specific manager related to the job role.
The goal is to articulate why you can solve their problems and bring value.
Cold email is a cheat code, because most people are too scared to do it.
However, you need to be able to deliver on your promises, and you better be prepared to show up.
3. Job boards and openings
Maybe you prefer traditional channels like job boards and job postings.
Keep in mind: job openings are flooded, and managers spend about 6 seconds on an application from a job board.
This is a numbers game.
For each role, you need an optimized CV and a personalized cover letter.
Your cover letter needs to be good enough to stand out at a 6-second glance, to be considered for an interview.
Quantity is your ally.
Most people, spend time making an 80% cover letter → 100%. For each job. Resulting in applying for 5 jobs a week instead of 10.
The last 20% is worth it for methods 1 and 2. But 80% is sufficient for a 6-second glance.
Be relentless, not romantic.
You're an ideal user for a tool like HopefullyHired.
Spend time on a good CV and writing one high-quality cover letter.
